ATE Bank Romania has been established in 1990, as the Bank for Small Industry and Free Initiative (MIND Bank), being the first joint-venture in Romanian banking industry.

       In June 2006 the Agricultural Bank of Greece (ATE Bank Greece) has bought the main stock package of MIND Bank. Once the shareholding structure has changed, the name of the bank has also changed to ATE Bank Romania.

       Agricultural Bank of Greece, the main shareholder of ATE Bank Romania, is a bank established in 1929, which is 77% held by the Greek State and is composed by strong financial companies.
